Chewing out CBS's ass...

In case you didn't know, CBS aired a segment on these lunatics pretending to do parkour, and acted as though they were the real deal, so, I sent them a spot of good ol' fashioned hate mail.

Here's a link to the article/video:http://cbs3.com/topstories/local_story_271211103.html
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd like to place a complaint about the segment you did on the "Ventilation X". Those morons have no idea what they are doing, and are going to end up injuring or killing themselves. They are not doing parkour, they are merely being delinquent, retarded, foolish, troublemakers. They should not be referred to as traceurs, nor even practitioners of parkour, parkour is a noble art, and should never be represented by such delinquents. It's not about an adrenaline rush, nor about going where you shouldn't be. It's about self improvement, and being useful, not only to yourself, but to others as well.

You are supplying false information, and bad journalism to your viewers. If you care about the safety, and well being, of both our children, and our true traceurs, then please, clear this up with the public. Don't allow these ignorant fools to damage the fragile reputation, and reality of parkour.

Now, to tell you what parkour itself is truly about. It was created just under 20 years ago by a man (his friends as well) named David Belle, now, David was raised by his father, who was a military fire fighter, he grew up, learning gymnastics and other sports, and became a natural at obstacle courses. He also grew up with the desire to help people, to be strong, and useful to others. His father always told him that if he were to do a sport, to choose one that is useful, and from this word of wisdom, parkour began, in the mind of David Belle. He began to practice it everyday, and eventually, his friends joined in as well. Parkour encourages morals, and fitness, as well as usefulness, and safety. It also requires the utmost dedication, and grueling exercising and conditioning, to prepare your body for this high impact life-style, the "Ventilation X" have done nothing, they merely jump around, and imitate. The 10 story buildings that they were on, is a massive safety risk, only the most experienced traceurs should do things at such a height. There is no safety risk to parkour if you practice it in a progressive, slow, gradual manner. You start at ground level, and slowly build up, increasing the distance, height, and precision of your movements, these foolish children are trying to recreate from what I can only assume to be no more than a few months of training, what took the elite traceurs many years to be able to do safely, there is no excuse, or need for them to be on rooftops nor on private property, or otherwise places they should be. Parkour is a discipline, art, life-style, sport, and philosophy, and a traceur, is a student of all of these aspects of parkour, and these ignorant fools practice none of those, therefore are not traceurs, they're merely wannabes.

By parkour being as new as it is, it is in it's most crucial stage of development right now, and with nobody understanding it, nobody will accept it, so it is up to the true traceurs to spread the true word, and to educate the public about what it truly means to practice parkour. So please, help us in trying to keep the image of parkour honest, clear, and positive.

Thank you for your time.
